INITIAL BREATHING APPARATUS COURSE
A JOIFF accredited 2 day course and will enable personnel to have the necessary knowledge and skill to qualify as Breathing Apparatus Wearers for entry into irresponsible and dangerous atmospheres for the purpose of carrying out work safely.
Delegates will gain familiarity in the use of respiratory protection by the provision of a self-contained breathing apparatus kit, leading to an understanding of its operation and safe practices. The course material and syllabus are used in conjunction with the legal requirements of A Breathing Apparatus Wearer (Home Office Technical Bulletin 1/1997), associated legislation and Approved Codes of Practice (ACOP).
INITIAL BA COURSE ELIGIBILITY
The course is open to any candidate that is required by their employer to wear breathing apparatus in an irrespirable atmosphere.
The course is mentally and physically demanding and requires the candidate to be fit and free of injury prior to attending.

Physiology of respiration
Fitting the cylinder and donning the set

1 day of full practical exercises including snatch rescue and decontamination
